GRP pipes and fittings are prepared from special resin and glass fiber reinforcement along with additives to acquire a composite structure and bring the most satisfactory product for industrial clients. GRP pipes in India are manufactured by engineers according to the specifications shared by their potential clients. Engineers are manufacturing GRP pipes with an unrestrained joint or a restrained joint where no thrust blocks are engaged at the change of directions. The pipe construction and the joints are different for both loading conditions.
Manufacturers keep the things simple and prepare all pipes and fittings with minimal initial specific stiffness. All these products are ideal for use under pressure as the experts test the entire range prior releasing to the market for industrial use.
The process of making GRP pipe
All pipes and fittings made of GRP material are manufactured by using a continuous filament winding process along with an advancing mandrel. At times manufacturing units also use dual filament winding method. They intend the internal surface of the pipes with smoother and resin rich finish. The amazing thing that every user of GRP pipes can freely use these products as the internal and external surfaces of pipes are free and clean from defects like bubbles, cracks, tackiness, voids, and foreign matters, etc.
The type of resin they use is of an unsaturated resin that offers the corrosive resistance to the products. The resin used for intending structural wall of the pipes and fittings is a polyester type containing styrene as the polymer monomer. However, they also use other types of resins depending on the application.
They don’t use pigments.
All fittings like tees, reducers, bends, junctions, and more are tested by higher authorities before releasing the product in the market.
